Frequently Asked Questions

How can I rent out my bike?

Click on "order" on the page of the bike that interests you and follow the instructions. Once you have chosen your options, you will have the choice to buy... or rent.

What is Greenleaze?

GreenLeaze is the service that allows us to offer you our electric bikes for rent, simply and safely.

With it, you can rent your Elwing bike online in just a few clicks, with a monthly subscription that includes breakage and theft insurance.

When renting an Elwing electric bike, a dedicated customer area is automatically created on GreenLeaze. There, you will find the details of your contract, the included services and options, your payment tracking, as well as the ability to easily report a claim.

When does the rental start and when is the first payment due?

The official start date of your rental contract corresponds to the actual receipt of your electric bike at your address.

The shipment is handled by us, and your monthly payments begin only from the delivery, which officially triggers the contract.

The breakage and theft insurance, as well as all included services, also take effect from this date.

Is bike insurance included in the rental agreement?

Yes! All GreenLeaze subscriptions automatically include breakage and theft insurance.

What does the insurance included in the contract cover?

The insurance included in your long-term rental contract with Greenleaze is valid for the entire duration of your rental or subscription, limited to one guaranteed event per year. It protects you with no deductible to pay: in the event of a validated claim, you will not have to advance any costs. It covers the following risks:

Thefts

  • Theft with break-in or assault
  • Theft of the bike parked at home, if it is in a locked place

Mandatory conditions for the insurance to be valid:

  • Use of an approved lock (U-lock or certified chain)
  • Filing a police report within 48 hours
  • Providing proof of purchase of the lock, upon request

Accidental damage

  • Accidental damage to the bike (excluding normal wear and tear)
  • Repairs covered, or replacement with a new bike if the bike is irreparable
  • Covered parts: motor, battery, frame, brakes, etc. (excluding obvious negligence)

⚠️ The insurance does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear (tires, brakes, chain, etc.)
  • Damage caused by misuse, unauthorized modification, or negligence
  • Theft without an approved lock or in an unsecured location
  • Loss or theft without filing a police report
  • Damage occurring during a competition or undeclared professional use
What happens in the event of a claim?

If your bike is damaged, it will first be examined by a professional repairer authorized by Greenleaze. If the bike can be repaired, it will be returned to you after the intervention. If this is not possible, Greenleaze will provide you with a replacement bike. This replacement can also occur in the event of a validated theft.

The claim must be made by email to contact@greenleaze.com within 5 calendar days after the incident. Without this prior declaration, any product returned damaged or oxidized will not be covered by the warranty.

Depending on the type of claim, you will need to provide the following:

  • In case of breakdown/failure: photos of the bike and a detailed description of the circumstances and effects.
  • In case of theft: a copy of the complaint filed with the competent authorities, mentioning the bike’s identifier (if available). Only thefts occurring within European territory are covered.
  • In case of oxidation: photos and a description of the exact circumstances.

Once the file is complete, Greenleaze commits to processing your request within a 5 business day period, excluding transport and subject to available stock.

Am I covered in case of damage to third parties?

No. The Greenleaze warranty does not cover your civil liability. You are required to take out insurance covering any damage you may cause to third parties while using the bike. If you request it, your home insurance can usually cover civil liability related to the use of your bike.

When will the bike be delivered?

The bike will be shipped only after your GreenLeaze contract is approved, subject to availability.

Can the rental also include accessories?

Yes, some Elwing accessories are also available for rent and can be included in your monthly payment through GreenLeaze.
They must be selected at the same time as your bike, when subscribing to the plan.

If an accessory is not available for rent, the full amount will be included in the initial payment.

How do I access my contract?

Your contract is available in your GreenLeaze client area. A summary of your subscription will also be sent to you by email.

How do I create a GreenLeaze customer account?

After subscribing, you will receive an email with information related to your GreenLeaze customer area. From the customer area, you can track your contract, your payments, or report a claim.

How do I return the bike at the end of the contract?

At the end of the contract, the rented bike and accessories must be returned directly to the address specified by GreenLeaze or to an authorized partner.

The bike must be in normal wear condition, accompanied by all rented accessories (Accessories that were purchased outright belong to you).

Note: Fees may apply in case of abnormal damage or missing parts.

Can I withdraw?

In accordance with the law, you have a period of 14 days from the signing of the contract to exercise your right of withdrawal, without having to justify the reason and without penalties.

Your withdrawal request must be made in writing to GreenLeaze or by asking them to provide you with the form to fill out.

If the delivery has already taken place, return shipping costs are your responsibility. Once the products are returned and inspected, fees may be applied if the products are damaged.

Your subscription will then be canceled and the initial payment refunded to you.

How do I cancel my contract after the withdrawal period?
  • If you wish to cancel your order after the legal withdrawal period (14 days) but before delivery (unilateral early termination): Greenleaze may apply fees or withhold certain amounts incurred. You remain liable for amounts due until the effective termination of your contract, unless there is a specific agreement or force majeure.
  • If you wish to terminate your contract after the delivery of your bike: you remain liable for the monthly payments due until the end of the contract, or must pay a lump sum, except in cases of force majeure or under certain specific conditions. You can contact GreenLeaze to learn more (contact@greenleaze.com).
Is the buyback option included in my contract?

The buyback option is not automatic and depends on the contract signed. If this option is available, it will be explicitly mentioned, along with its conditions and the buyback amount, at the time of contract signing.

Are you already subscribed and unsure if the option was included in your contract? Visit your GreenLeaze customer area to check your contract details, or contact them directly by email: contact@greenleaze.com.

How is the buyback value of the bike calculated?

If your contract includes a purchase option, the buyback value is set at the time of signing. It does not depend on the actual condition of the bike at the time of return but is based on an anticipated estimate of its depreciation.

This so-called "residual" value is calculated based on:

  • the initial price of the bike,
  • the rental duration,
  • and the expected normal wear and tear at the end of the contract.

It is fixed in advance and remains stable throughout the rental period.

For example, for a bike valued at €2,000, after 36 months of rental, the buyback value could be €300, or 15% of the original price.
