The Ritmic Yuvy 3 has just been released. It is the third generation of the Ritmic two-seater cargo bike (formerly Elwing), the model that launched the brand in 2020. If you own a Yuvy 2 or are deciding between the two, you’re probably wondering: what has changed? Is it worth it?

The short answer: yes. The Yuvy 3 is not just a cosmetic update. It includes concrete improvements in standard equipment, components, and colors, while lowering its price by €100. Here is the full detail.

1. The 7 main new features of the Yuvy 3

✦ NEW - Start-assist throttle included as standard

On the Yuvy 2, the approved start-assist throttle was not offered as an accessory. On the Yuvy 3, it is included as standard and has been improved: limited to 6 km/h without pedaling, it makes starting with a load and/or on hills much easier.

✦ NEW - 180 lux front light - compared to 50 lux on the Yuvy 2

This is one of the most visible upgrades. The front light goes from 50 lux (Spanninga) to 180 lux (Satelite C19). At night in the city, the difference is immediate: you see better and are better seen. A real quality leap for winter trips, early morning rides, or evening outings.

✦ NEW - Standard side skirt guards

Absent on the Yuvy 2, skirt guards are now included and installed on the Yuvy 3. They protect the rear passenger, adult or child, from water and mud splashes and prevent interference between shoes or clothing and the rear wheel. A highly appreciated feature when riding with children on board.

✦ NEW - New Vee Tire Speedster tires

The Yuvy 2 was equipped with Kenda tires. The Yuvy 3 uses Vee Tire Speedster 20 x 4.0": better grip on cobblestones and tram rails and significantly improved riding comfort. A noticeable difference for daily urban use.

The Yuvy 2 was equipped with Tektro 2-piston hydraulic disc brakes. The Yuvy 3 upgrades to 4-piston 180 mm brakes, as on the Solo, Duo, and Jumbo models of the Ritmic range. A real gain in braking performance, particularly appreciated on descents or when the bike is loaded.

2. Motorization: a new motor, a deliberate choice

The Yuvy 3 features a new motorization with the Ananda R530 rear wheel motor, 250 W, 65 N.m (Ananda, supplier for brands including Intersport and Gaya), replacing the Bafang RM-G062 (80 N.m) of the Yuvy 2.

This motor was chosen for its behavior particularly suited to daily urban use: smooth assistance, progressive starts, natural riding, and stable behavior, even when loaded.

This motor comes with 3 levels of assistance (vs 5 levels on the Yuvy 2): a simplified use with 3 modes designed for urban and suburban riding according to the desired pace.

As with previous generations, assistance remains limited to 25 km/h.

The Yuvy 3 now comes standard with a start-assist trigger, very useful for hill starts, red lights, or maneuvers with a passenger or cargo.

3. Range and batteries

The Yuvy 3 retains the two battery configurations already offered on the Yuvy 2:

• Standard Battery: 614 Wh
• Long Range Battery: 1008 Wh

The range figures evolve slightly with this new generation:

Important detail: the 62km and 90km of the Yuvy 3 are measured in assistance mode 2, under standardized conditions. The difference with the 60km and 110km of the Yuvy 2 is explained by the change in motorization (Ananda vs Bafang), the measurement method, and the communicated mode. In daily urban use, the Standard battery (62km in intermediate mode) easily covers the majority of trips.

Note: the range always strongly depends on the use of the bike and your battery: terrain, weight carried, temperature, tire pressure, or level of assistance used.

In both cases, the batteries are removable and lockable, allowing easy charging at home without moving the entire bike.

4. Safety and Equipment: what is identical

On these points, the Yuvy 3 maintains the level of the Yuvy 2:

• Foldable central aluminum kickstand.
• Rear light with integrated brake light.
• Retractable aluminum passenger footrests, 2 positions (adult and junior).
• Aluminum front and rear fenders.
• NF EN 15194 certification on both models.

5. Design and Dimensions

The Yuvy 3 retains what made the Yuvy successful from the start: a compact format, low step-through, a plush two-person saddle, and a true feeling of everyday simplicity.

At 182 cm long and 30 kg without the battery, it remains one of the most compact and maneuverable two-person cargo bikes in its category.

The swan-neck frame, low step-through at 43 cm, and two-person saddle remain at the heart of the experience.

The most visible change remains its new color palette.

After the signature Steppe and Pomegranate colors on the Yuvy 2, the Yuvy 3 introduces three new shades: Oxford Green, Sky Blue, and Lilac.

Brighter and bolder colors designed to add a bit more personality to everyday rides.

The Yuvy 3 is priced from €2,399 including tax, compared to €2,499 for the Yuvy 2 at its launch, €100 less, with higher standard equipment. Both models are eligible for local subsidies.

Two motors with the same torque can offer very different sensations depending on how the assistance is programmed, and conversely, two motors with different torques can provide the same assistance comfort with the same ease.

And it is: the Yuvy 3 (250 W, 65 N.m) was designed to provide the same assistance comfort as the Yuvy 2 (250 W, 80 N.m), or even better thanks to optimized programming. Both bikes assist up to 25 km/h. Note that the Yuvy 3 comes standard with a start-assist trigger for loaded and uphill starts.
