Let us explain!
The Bike Purchase Bonus: What are the eligibility criteria in France?
First of all, the bike must be new and approved. Our electric bike Yuvy, which complies with the European standard EN15194, perfectly matches the characteristics of the bike eligible for the bonus. Indeed, its battery is not made from lead, the motor power does not exceed 0.25 kilowatts, and the maximum speed is 25 km/h. Next, you must be a resident of the city where you apply for the aid, be of legal age, and have a reference tax income per share less than or equal to €13,489.
You can find all the information to check if you are eligible for State aid on the government website.
State and Local Aid
It should be understood that you can benefit from aid offered by your region or municipality on one hand. Then, it is possible to obtain State aid, capped at €200, which aligns with the local aid. Thus, the three aids (State, Region, City) are cumulative. The terms of the bonus are specific to each city and can sometimes be combined with other aids to reach up to €500. This is the case in Lyon, Corsica, Île-de-France, or Rueil-Malmaison, for example.
The Application Form
To benefit from the Bike Purchase Bonus, you must apply to the relevant organization. For this, you need to fill out the form and send it to the Agency for Services and Payments (ASP). Note that your aid request must be made within six months following the bike purchase and becomes void if you resell it the following year. Keep the vehicle invoice carefully, as it is obviously one of the documents to attach to the form.
Our Guide
To help you navigate, at Elwing, we have created a simple tool that details the amount of the Bike Purchase Bonus city by city. It takes the form of a European bonus guide for buying an electric bike covering France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. We make sure to regularly update this service with new locations.
The Bike Purchase Bonus is really a great way to take the plunge and switch to electric. And to get our Yuvy, which meets all the necessary conditions to qualify for the aid! However, if you are not eligible or if your local authority does not yet offer this type of aid, don’t worry. Indeed, there are other schemes you can benefit from, such as the Sustainable Mobility Package, which we present in another article.
